OVERVIEW

Who we are

Bridge Sense is a product of Realitics Inc. ("Realitics," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Bridge Sense and how we use it.

DATA

Information we collect

  • Account information: if you sign in, your email address and basic profile info from Google or from an email sign-in link, via our authentication provider (Google).
  • Your practice record: when you are signed in, we keep a record of each call you make: the deal, the call you chose, the correct call, whether you got it right, what kind of bidding decision it was, and when. It is the only data here that builds up a picture of you over time, and we keep it to see which kinds of decision players find hardest. Hands played signed out are not attributed to any account.
  • Usage data: timestamps of completed hands, used to enforce the daily free-hand limit and to count how much the site is being used. This happens whether or not you are signed in: when you are signed out, a hand is recorded against a random identifier stored in your browser (see Cookies), together with the deal number and the bidding system, so that two hands from the same browser count as one visitor rather than two. That identifier is not linked to you and tells us nothing about you. We also cache the generated explanation for a given deal, turn and call; that cache is shared across everyone and carries no account identity.
  • Approximate location: the first time you use Bridge Sense, we look up the rough location your connection appears to come from, so we know roughly where our players are. In the United States that means your state; elsewhere your country. The lookup may also return a city, which we keep as an approximate hint. To do this, your IP address is sent once to a geolocation service, which returns the location; we do not store the address itself, and we do not look it up again on later visits: the answer is remembered instead. Where an address appears in ordinary server records, it is shortened before anything is written down, leaving a network prefix that identifies an internet provider rather than a household.
  • Admin-managed access: if we grant your email unlimited access, we store that email and who granted it.

Payment details for a paid plan are collected and stored by Paddle, our merchant of record, on Paddle's own checkout; we never see or store card numbers. Paddle sends us your email address, the plan you chose, and the status of your subscription, which we keep to run your account.

USE

How we use it

  • To operate the practice flow: grading your calls and generating teaching explanations
  • To learn which kinds of decision players find hardest, so the deals and explanations improve
  • To enforce the daily free-hand limit and recognize accounts with unlimited access
  • To keep you signed in across visits
  • To respond to support requests
  • To improve the deals, explanations, and product over time

PROVIDERS

Service providers

We use a small number of third-party providers to run Bridge Sense, and share only what each needs to do its job:

  • Google: sign-in, authentication, our database (accounts, your practice record, hand-completion records), and hosting
  • AI language-model providers: generate the written explanation for a call; they receive the hand, auction, and call itself, never your account identity

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone beyond these providers except as required by law.

COOKIES

Cookies

We use two cookies, both first-party, and neither is shared with anyone.

  • A session cookie, to keep you signed in.
  • A visitor cookie (bm_visitor), which holds a random value and nothing else. It lets us count visitors rather than visits, and it is how we can tell that someone tried Bridge Sense before creating an account. It expires after a year, and clearing your cookies clears it. We also count which of our pages are viewed and, once per visitor, which site or campaign link first brought you here: all recorded by us, on our own servers, with no analytics service involved.

We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't use third-party analytics or tracking cookies. Nothing here follows you to another site.

FEEDBACK

Hands you report

Every hand carries a "this looks wrong" link. If you use it, we store the hand you were on, the call you made, what you said was wrong and anything you typed and, if you were signed in, your email address, so we can come back to you with a question. You don't need an account to report a hand.

We keep these because they are how the bidding gets corrected. They are read by us and not shared, and you can ask us to delete yours: see Your rights below.

EMAIL

Email we send you

There are two kinds, and they are treated differently.

  • Email you asked for: a sign-in link when you request one, and messages about your account or a payment. These are part of running the service, so we send them whether or not you have opted in to anything else. There is no way to switch these off while keeping an account, because without them you could not sign in.
  • Progress reports and product updates: if you hold an account, we send you occasional email about your own bidding progress and about changes to Bridge Sense. This is on by default for account holders. Every one of these carries an unsubscribe link that works without signing in, and you can also turn them off in settings at any time. We never send them to people without an account.

We record when you turned these off and from where, so an opt-out is a fact we can show rather than assert. We do not sell or rent your address, and we do not send you anyone else's marketing.

RETENTION

Data retention

We keep account and usage data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to operate the service (for example, daily-limit tracking and explanation caching). You can ask us to delete your data at any time: see Your rights below.

RIGHTS

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing support@bridgesense.org.

CHILDREN

Children's privacy

Bridge Sense is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

CHANGES

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Bridge Sense develops. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
